Sneaky Phishing Scam Targets Inboxes

Got an email claiming ‘You have 5 pending messages’? Beware, it’s likely to be the latest email now being intercepted by MailGuard, looking to harvest customers credentials.


Sent from ‘Email Service’, the suspicious looking simple email from ‘info(at)mazcollage(dot)xyz includes a headline with bad grammar reading, ‘You have 5 pending messages inbox.’

Here’s what the email looks like: 


When a customer clicks on ‘Reactivate Account Here’ they are taken to a page (pictured below) saying “Sorry, you are using an old mailbox interface. Please login again to switch to the new interface.”


The next step requests customers ‘Confirm your account’ by asking for a password and confirmation of password. The phishing page is hosted at why-hussein(dot)taqih(dot)com.



Once these details have been submitted, users are redirected to their email address's domain, for example, info(at)bunnings(dot)com is directed to bunnings(dot)com

  • Appear to be from a legitimate company but use poor English or omits personal details that a legitimate sender would include.      
  • Are from businesses that you were not expecting to hear from, and/or      
  • Take you to a landing page or website that is not the legitimate URL of the company the email is purporting to be sent from.
