MailGuard has intercepted a sophisticated phishing email campaign that impersonates the Australian Taxation Office (ATO) and attempts to harvest sensitive identity and financial information from unsuspecting recipients.
What We're Seeing
This scam is delivered via an HTML email containing a single malicious link. Once clicked, victims are taken through a multi-step phishing process designed to extract a significant volume of sensitive personal and financial information.
Here's an example of what the emails look like 👇
A Sophisticated Multi-Step Scam
- Requests username and password
- Requests a one-time code
- Requests personal details
- Requests upload of a personal identity document
- Requests upload of a selfie holding that identity document
- Displays a confirmation page
- Requests selection of superannuation provider from a list of 10
- Redirects to a login page for the selected super provider
- Requests another one-time code
- Redirects to the legitimate ATO website after final confirmation
An array of different superannuation providers are built into the phishing site.

What to Watch Out For
The scam campaign display name is 'ATOONLINE' and it's sending from 'atoonline(at)beckmanjewelers(dot)com, with 'beckmanjewelers(dot)com' the compromised sending domain.
It's a sophisticated phishing campaign with the objective to steal highly sensitive data, including identity documents, login credentials, one-time authentication codes, and superannuation account access.
