WATCH: Email scam mimicking Xero sends link to a malicious invoice

Earlier this week, MailGuard detected an email scam spoofing popular cloud accounting company, Xero

The email informs recipients of the arrival of a new Xero invoice. It has an invoice number, the date, and a link to download the invoice.

MailGuard suspects clicking on this link leads to the download of a malicious payload.   

As accountants, bookkeepers and financial professionals, Xero users and their customers are particularly attractive to cybercriminals who know that they hold access to valuable financial information for company payrolls, invoicing, and the like
