Two senior appointments signal continued growth for MailGuard
“These appointments reflect MailGuard’s continued growth Australia wide as a recognised market leader in the area of managed information security,” said Andrew Johnson, MailGuard Director. “Businesses of all sizes today are looking for a solution to their spam and virus concerns with a major jump in the number of organisations approaching us with regard to our managed web filtering service.”
Garry Hoover has been appointed MailGuard’s Financial Controller. Prior to this, Hoover was the Chief Financial Officer and Company Secretary at carsales.com.au Ltd. On board prior to the company’s IPO and during a seven year period, Hoover set up and oversaw the company’s financial systems and was responsible for all finance, administration and company secretarial and reporting functions. Today, carsales.com.au is one of the fastest growing Australian listed companies with a market value estimated by some analysts to be over $500 million.
"We are delighted to welcome Garry to the MailGuard team. Our consistent focus on innovation, customer satisfaction and the bottom line calls for someone of his calibre. Additionally, our aggressive growth plans require his level of financial experience," said Johnson.
Hoover believes MailGuard is poised for explosive growth within and beyond Australian shores and is excited about joining in and contributing to that journey. Commenting on his new position with MailGuard, Hoover said, "Over the last seven years, MailGuard has led the way in advanced managed information security technology. I look forward to working with all the team members of this technically creative and customer-focused organisation to continue to make a difference to how companies deal with their information security. I can honestly say that I am proud to be involved with such a highly recognised brand as represented by MailGuard."
Garry has a Bachelor of Economics, a Graduate Diploma of Business Administration, is a Chartered Accountant and is finalising his Chartered Company Secretary studies. His passions lie with snowboarding and surfboarding and he is a past NSW and Victorian skateboard champion.
With the company’s reseller numbers doubling in the last 18 months and reseller customers and revenues rising fourfold, Pieter Steetsel has been appointed because of his channel sales specialist work and his track record of meeting aggressive revenue targets. He is a proactive hands-on manager with proven skills in designing and implementing channel sales organisational, training and reporting systems.
Most recently, Steetsel was at Autodesk as ANZ Sales Execution Manager where, among other responsibilities, he developed and implemented the company’s sales and technical training program for resellers. Prior to this, Steetsel spent three years as Corporate and Government Channel Manager with Apple Computer where he worked closely with the Professional Reseller network providing business and sales planning and execution expertise. He has also had senior roles at MapInfo Australia and Dataflow Computer Services.
Steetsel has a Bachelor of Science and his hobbies are focused on 4WDing, boating and water skiing.
