Pacific Internet (Australia) extends managed security offering

Melbourne, 14 November Month 2007 – Pacific Internet (Australia) (Nasdaq: PCNTF) (“PacNet” or the “Company”), Asia Pacific’s largest telco-independent Internet Communications Service Provider by geographic reach, and MailGuard Pty Ltd, today announced an extension to their partnership in launching PacNet CleanWeb, a business grade managed web filtering solution, tailored for businesses and government sectors.

Dennis Muscat, senior vice president of South Asia, Pacific Internet, said “We are aware of the vulnerability many businesses face with staff increasingly accessing the web for social networking sites such as Facebook and My Space. This is a threat to organisations both from a security and a productivity perspective.“

Mr Muscat emphasised that PacNet had already partnered with MailGuard to deliver the highly successful CleanMail solution twelve months ago. Based on the demands for this product the partnership has been extended to include the CleanWeb solution. CleanWeb addresses the growing need in the market to mange staff productivity and protect the organisation from malicious attacks and potential litigation.

PacNet CleanWeb provides management, control and reporting of the internet web browsing resource in organizations. The solution protects networks and systems against web based viruses, trojans and threats. Importantly, PacNet CleanWeb provides detailed reporting and management of of staff access to the web at work.

PacNet CleanWeb is fully managed, deployed and scaled by PacNet and MailGuard with the filtering servers hosted within PacNet Australian data centres. PacNet CleanWeb re-directs all of the company’s staff browsing through a filter/proxy server network with local nodes across the country. The customer requires no hardware, software or appliances on the part of the organization.

“Because PacNet CleanWeb stops access to inappropriate sites by category (pornography, gambling) and can control recreational downloads (movies, MP3s), the amount of bandwidth downloaded is substantially reduced and excess data bills can be audited, this translates to real financial savings.” said Andrew Johnson, director, MailGuard.

Mr Muscat concludes, “PacNet CleanWeb gives businesses the opportunity to manage what their users are actually doing. Administrators simply use the console to manage access to the web by user, file types, key words and sites by individual, group or company wide rules as required. It can’t be any easier. Companies, today, acknowledge the importance of IT Governance and, we believe, PacNet CleanWeb assists in the management of these important practices.”
