MailGuard Seeing Double

MailGuard, Australia's first and leading provider of managed information security, continues to experience rapid growth and has made a number of new regional and national appointments over the last few weeks to meet the strong demand for its services.

MailGuard focuses on managing the daily risks of thousands of businesses by protecting them from viruses and spam, managing content, filtering of unwanted website downloads and archiving of all business emails without any user management requirements.

Latest recruits include Darren Cassidy as Southern Region Partner Manager. A Northern region Partner Manager will be announced shortly to assist the National Partner Manager manage the channel community which now exceeds 80 partners.

Peter Fuggle joins as Network Manager, Oded Simon as System Administrator and Alfie John is added to the company's technology and development group as an advanced programmer. MailGuard has doubled its staff numbers over the last 18 months as the company grows within new and existing markets increasingly through its channel community. Customer numbers have increased by 30 per cent due to the activity of its channel base.

"We are delighted with our new team members," said Andrew Johnson, MailGuard Director. "Darren's channel leadership expertise and diverse background, along with his breadth of industry relationships, is a great asset to MailGuard on our path toward continued growth and innovation. The technical team is increasing with Peter, Oded and Alfie to further enhance our strategic direction in servicing our customers' experience."

Cassidy has had over twenty years of sales and management experience from a retail level through distribution to vendor level. Most recently he was national account manager for Swann Communications where he managed the IT distribution channel including the Harvey Norman account. He has also worked with Dynamic Supplies and Prion Technology. He has had interesting stints in managing his family's courier business for four years and was the fundraising manager for Wheelchair Sports Victoria for another four years.

MailGuard has recently launched an enhanced version of its managed web filtering service, WebGuard, in response to feedback from the growing customer base using the service. Events such as the Australian Open, Valentine's Day, the FIFA World Cup and the Cricket World Cup tend to drive unproductive workplace web traffic.

Beyond the negative impact on productivity, uncontrolled use of the web can have serious and costly consequences for businesses of all sizes. "This includes exposure to legal liability, disclosure of confidential information, breaches of compliance requirements and unnecessary bandwidth consumption," said Johnson.

MailGuard was a winner in the 2006 Deloitte Technology Fast 50 awards held in November 2006.
